Head hair of about an inch and a half is often described as roughly a 90-day window. That is a rule of thumb about growth, not a promise that every use in that window will appear. Body hair grows differently and is a weaker clock.
If the federal rule requires urine, order urine. Hair can sit beside it as an employer-policy test. It does not replace it.

It answers a different question. Urine is the federal DOT specimen. Hair is an employer-policy look further back.
